Yesterday's chorale rehearsal was an oasis in a lonely day. Chamber choir rehearsal in the evening was engaging, at least, since we were reading through a lot of the new rep to take on the tour. About which I am getting more excited, despite the fact that it looks direly unlikely I'd be able to get to Munich afterwards. Bob gave me a ride home and I told him about the possibility, and he was very encouraging, but from the emails of the organizer, I suspect the logistics are just not on.
In any case, Dan took me to Cohen House for lunch today as a reward for the free copyediting I did on the Open Stax College website last night. Always a good bribe. Or, I should say, the Company took me to Cohen House. Dan was double-booked for the first 15 minutes or so, so I walked over with JP and Denise, two of his coworkers on that and Connexions, and Denver, whom I know from the multitude of shows at Rice (Dan just hired him).
I'd pumped up my bike tires, in order to ride the thing over to Rice, and I know I say this every time, but it's like a miracle how easy it is to pedal a bike with full tires when you're used to the grueling grind of trying to get around of flat ones. Also, when you haven't ridden your bike in a couple years, it's marvelous how fast you can get places. Bikes are faster than walking. Who'dve thought? It started a drizzly rain on the way back, so I tucked my book under my shirt to keep it dry, but I do like rainy walks, and even rainy bike rides are nice. When it's warm enough. Which it is. Maybe I'll go ranging.
