A leisurely trip into town yesterday yielded an opportunity to sit in on Dominique's Third Stream Methodology class for awhile. She was happy to see me, and though the class was all unknown to me except Leah (and Nathalie, whom I'd met when she came to jam with us on Wednesday night), I had a good ol' CI time. There was a collaboration assignment for that day, and the discussion of the one that got to perform included a lot of hard thinking about timbre as opposed to frequency, especially vocally, and Dominique demonstrated some overtones, and had me demonstrate a different kind.
Brent finished his appointment and met me at school, and we wandered around some more. I ran into and chatted with Tomas, Lautaro, Hayes, and Simon, despite the doorman's lie about the computer lab being closed due to theft (I guess he was trying to prevent more thefts). They were all thrilled beyond measure to see me; apparently it's different this year. Especially for Lau, who feels like he's regressing or doing remedial work, because he's already got a master's and now he's working on a grad diploma. He never sees anybody, so he was really glad to run into me. So was Hayes. And Simon. I'm going to send them the round robin improv.
Brent and I got home in the afternoon and tried to record some more, but he got frustrated (he's comfortable in a studio recording session, but my ghetto rig makes him self-conscious), so I guess the rest will be up to Andrew. We rung in the early northern-latitudes evening with more Stargate, and some general hanging out when Tony got home. They appreciated my cookies.
Tony left for work this morning in the preppiest getup I've ever seen on him (cardigan and tie, whoa), with a sweet farewell. This afternoon Brent and I adjourn to New York, where he'll see a concert his friend's in and I'll hang with Eric. We'll see what all I can fit back in my suitcase now.
