I wish there was time to snap my zakat and scan it. It's gorgeous, and it's not even donw. My mother's nail polish collection is superlative.

The base, on which the dragon sits, was originally going to be a rock. Now I'm not sure what it is, because it's purple-and-green two-tone, changing depending on where the light source is and how you look at it. Maybe it's a magical grassy knoll. My signature, the condensed RS^2 in Ailurian, is engraved on the base, and filled with another two-tone, sky-blue and pale orange. The color is not distinguishable from the base unless you turn it. the right way.

Sitting on the base is the dragon, who is not finished. His back and the backs of all his limbs are deepest azure, which, when lighted in the right angle, is brilliant, almost electric blue. This fades through, going along the outsides of his limbs, to a lighter, less intense blue (which has hints of green in it), to an iridescent sky-blue, and his underside is not yet painted silvery-iridescent not-blue. His horns and claws are the same blue-with-peach highlights as my signature. The membranes of his wings are a purpler, but still light, translucent blue.

The cup itself is not painted yet, but it's going to be fire colors. The rim, a vivid coppery orange, with intentional drips down to a yellower orange, which drips down to a gold-ish orange. The bottom is one coat of a translucent copper, inpinged upon by drips of the last yellow. The runes on the rim, I think, will be garnet-blood-wine red against the deep orange. I'm not painting the inside of the cup.

And the best elements of my hoard are piled in the cup. Amethyst points, that amber necklace the Russian gave me, citrine rhombi, fluorite globs, the dragon ring that scared me the hell away from Raphael, quartz points, moonstone and labradorite cabochons, tumbled hematite, bloodstone blobs, golden Mayan jaguar brooch, Ukrainean coins, silver-with-mother-of-pearl-inlay box full of tumbled garnets, a malachite pyramid... well, I guess I don't need to list the constituents of my hoard.

Anyway. I'm painting my zakat and done packing. Leaving for the airport at 2:00. In Cambridge I will be checking my Lair email periodically, but not terribly often. Probably at least once a week. Oh, and you can write to the yahoo one, too, but it's a spamtrap now.

Mama's at the store getting a real camera. I promised Ally I'd take pictures. Though cameras intimidate me (from the operating side, not the performance).

Miss you all, but I would anyway, cause I never see you. I'm back August 6th. This is going to be so fun.
