Back from Choir Trip. Good memories for a long time, and I shall record them, so they don't fade off and die like so many other good ones.
Got to school on Wednesday, had first and some of second period, and then got on the bus to go to the airport. Once there, we checked in (they took my pliers when I ran my backpack through the Xray, but they were my least favorite pair anyway), and then we sat around and waited for several hours (since we had all been moved to the later flight, instead of half early and half late, but we all left school at the same time anyway). I listened to some of Wes's broadway songs on his cd, since he really liked the baritone. Yeah, it was okay.
On the plane, I sat next to Kat U and Shakara (but in the window seat). She kept saying ours was the most comical row... I was really on a roll on this trip. One-liners abounded. And they were almost all dirty. But I slept a lot on the plance, too (it was only an hour-and-a-half flight). Woke up in time for landing. I like planes. I like flying.
Once there, we separated onto our two buses, Grils' Chorus and Chorale, and shipped off for the hotel. It was a long drive, and I was still sleepy, so I slept on Wes and could later claim to have slept with him. It was a running silly the entire rest of the trip, because Julia had slept on him on the plane, and they had been about to apply to the mile-high club... So she accused me of stealing him, and later when I was hanging with Ellis (and even later, my cousins), a collector. Heh. She never did beat me up, though we both made much of Wes (he enjoyed it mightily).
Once at the hotel, we settled in the rooms. I had been appointed the First of my room for some reason, so I had to do the roll check when we loaded buses and stuff. Chris (who was the boyfriend of Krystel who was in my room) was next door, and came over frequently (though covertly, because it was explicitly against the rules) because his room smelled like smoke, even though it was a non-smoking floor. And then! It was about time to go to dinner, so we all sat around in the lobby and yakked while the one passenger van that the hotel had could shuttle us in groups of 12 (there were about 80 of us) to the restaurant we'd booked. I was on a boring van both ways... my room and Skakara's room. I'd rather sit with the boys. Ellis was in the front seat because there wasn't enough room on the trip he was supposed to go on.
It was an okay restaurant, with good food. I started out sitting with Julia and Tony and B and a bunch of other loud sillies (it got pretty exuberant over there, later), but then Julia's best friend came and there wasn't room, so I got up and sat with Ellis and the freshman girls he was trying to, well not acquire, but ingratiate himself with. He's 15 and a sophomore, but you'd never be able to tell by looking at him: http://www.angelfire.com/realm/ailuria/images/ellis.jpg (this was from the bus on th way to Lawrence). However, the prevailing topics of conversation and the painful shallowness of the freshmen did reflect the age group. Oh well,I got to scare them with glares, and they called me cat-woman, so it was fun enough. Plus I had a really good steak, broccoli cheese soup, cole slaw, buttery corn, Tony gave me his salad, and the meal came with a piece of pie (I got strawberry rhubarb, yum). When we were done, we went to the entry to wait for the vans, and some people wanted to go outside to wait (it was cold, but I went for a little while). There was an uproar at one end of the sidewalk, about a snake, so I ran to see, but it was a worm (about two feet long and half and inch in diameter at its thickest point). Everybody was grossed out except Tony (I wouldn't have expected it of him; remind me to post the IM conversations I've had with him about writing, and describe his rich, spoiled, disgustingly optimistic, haircare point of view sometime). It was raining, but I figured the worm really didn't want to be in the middle of this vst expanse of concrete, so I put him on high ground in the bushes. He was quite slimy. Then it was cold, so I went back inside and sat with Wes. He's extremely comfortable, but I didn't get to ride in the same van with him.
Once back at the hotel, we pretty much crashed. I decided to sleep under the little table in the corner of the room, bordered on one side by the pull-out-bed couch and on the other by the loveseat. Nice little niche, better than my usual spot under the sink. Our wake-up call was 6:00. Bleh. And the breakfast had no meat or eggs, all bread and donuts, and waffles and yogurt and danishes. Though that was okay.
More later, Mama's back from church and we're going to Roger's in a few minutes.
