Almost-frantically but really calmly and with full appreciation and cherishing, I've been trying to get in the last few Houstonian hours of hanging out. Joodles and Catherine came to Dan's while he cooked me a going-away dinner last night (which was, naturally, delicious beyond description--garlic steak and bacon-broccoli salad, plus asparagus, ftw). We stayed up too late not saying a lot, just being. That's what happens a lot when you feel like you're on the clock, using up the time you have as intensely as you can. I spent the night at Dan's, despite his formerly-super-comfortable now-back-killing bed, because it was... well, nearly the last night. And it was something I did a lot here.
As was my standing dinner date with Joodles for Southwell's after Chorale. I did indeed go to the first two Chorale rehearsals of this semester at Rice; Tom was glad to see me, and said sweet things, and I got to sit next to Charlie in the middle of no kind of section.
And went to Southwell's with mama and met Joodles there, and Dan and Parker came. Dan had to go to a business meeting (he's now founding an online-textbook educational-content coding company), and Parker had to go to Phils auditions, and Joodles had to go to a class, so I came home and packed some more.
