Catherine's ever-obliging mom drove us north of the city this morning to see the bridge and the Muir Forest, a valley full of breathtaking redwoods. I have so many pictures it's ridiculous, and most of them are good. The trees are very photogenic.
Maybe there's a misaligned or hairline-fractured something in my instep, as it's been unhappy for the last few days, but I bet it's just the piles of walking in shoes that I've been doing. I took them off to hike the trails and it feels a bit better. Mmm.
We paused on the way back through the city to see if they should drop me in town to redeem the dinner raincheck today, but Alan's still having sleep troubles, so the three of us dined quietly at a satisfyingly decorated place called the Elephant Bar, with convincing leopard-print carpet, intermittent giraffe spots on the walls, the occasional life-sized elephant carving walking out of the wall, and silhouette elephant decorations backlit with blue neon over the bar. The food wasn't bad, either.
I may now either mess with the internet to get the pictures on my computer onto the wireless, or I may call various authorities to arrange a bus to LA.
