Sondheim went surprisingly well for how much everyone hated it (I didn't), and I got many a compliment afterward. I think Jamie's Assassins scene (he was John Wilkes Booth) was the highlight, but I go for melodrama. Joodles dropped by after his 7-10 class was over and was sorry he missed it, and then ran away to Autry. Now (soon) I am off to work, and perhaps to accomplish a paper that is due soon. Unlikely, though. I only get work done if I have to, and people are giving me extensions. Which is nice for the stress factor, not so much for the motivation.
I don't know if it comes with a wider range of experiences with Life, but there are some people who know really how to give condolences. Tom, this afternoon in Chorale, can say the simplest things and they can be the same warm and solid things as a real hug. Joodles, of course, goes without saying. David Keck, whom I do not know well, heard independently and came by backstage just to squeeze my shoulder and say sorry. And it worked, and seemed like he really was. Dan thinks he's a fake and sleazy human being, but I'm a pretty good fake detector, and all I got was fuzzy compassion. It's worthwhile.
