It's not that I'd forgotten or misremembered the indescribable intensely of the camaraderie of Swift House, I'd just expected to be disappointed because I'd colored it rose with nostalgia. Now I remember; nope. I was appreciating and cherishing it just as intensely in the midst of it, concurrent with its existence. It didn't have to be gone for me to think about how much fun it was.
Bryan came over with Ben and Lauren while Stephan was here, and they discussed their way through the Oscars as we watched, and then we went to Ben's and Nick came with champagne, and they had a very intense but civil discussion about moral relativism and the United States and its hypothetical obligation as a peacekeeper for the world. And then a discussion about the need for more academic scholarship on pornography and how they should co-teach a seminar on it when they both (Nick and Stephan, for the straight and gay sides, respectively) had tenure.
Ben and Lauren faded out, so the rest of us went to Nick's and did some mad-libs. And Nick made Stephan a professional-quality omelet. I might learn the alba for tomorrow's Loewen performance project in Medieval, but I may just wait for Kendra to get back in town on Wednesday and do the ensemble and save the alba for next time.
