Exhaustion reigns, but it was an up-and-down day. Staging was long and sandwich break with Stephan (and Katie and Julie) was good, and I was glad to have the downtime before the 7:00 call for tonight's concert. Everyone came, but no one got in, because there are no student rush tickets for this concert series and Joodles, Bryan, Catherine, and Mollie understandably didn't want to pay over fifty dollars. Stephan left a message right as the show started, saying as much, and I nearly cried at intermission when I listened to it, I'd been looking forward to having them there so much. And then afterwards they left Cabo before the show got out, so I followed them to Amy's ice cream and had a therapeutic Guy hug.

However, I will say that tonight's performance of the Carmina was the best I've ever heard, let along been in. It was such a rush of adrenaline and endorphins that I was no longer totally consumed by the tragedy of my friends not getting in, and could make fairly authoritative decisions about how we were dancing now, even though Stephan begged off and went to Ben's after half an hour.

Joodles and Catherine stayed till 2:30. I showed them all the movements of Carmina and explained the words, and did the highlights of the Chichester, and they hope to come tomorrow (I will buy them chorus-discount tickets). I also showed Joodles the pathetic cello fills I've started with, and will fix, and he loved the ideas and commiserated about being out of practice. I also showed them the songs I'd written for guitar and voice, and he was game to learn them.

And then we danced. Joodles even had us record some so he could remember them over the summer and teach the cha cha and the salsa to his sisters. We don't need more than just the three of us to have a dance party.
