Another satisfying rehearsal, even though we only did Carmina tonight (Chichester orch rehearsal is tomorrow night). Flor is taking some really risky but supremely exciting chances with the tempos and tempo changes. The men have a tendency to rush in certain places, but Flor's adding such intense accelerandos that they can never get too far ahead of the beat. It's awesome to have the orchestra rush with us, all in time with the conductor.
People keep telling me how lovely I sound, and I didn't even do the thing tonight. I guess they feel like they have to congratulate me because I'm young; they're not treating the tenor, alto or bass this way. I never know what to say, so I just thank them.
You know what I recently rediscovered? Tally Hall. Banana Man works quite well for cha cha, but there's the whole rest of the album, too. And then I found the Buble cover of Sway in the depths of my hard drive and fell in love with that again. I'm playing it next time we dance, no matter how much Stephan complains.
