Possibly most satisfying opera staging and most satisfying HSC rehearsal ever, IN A ROW. Yayness.
In the opera staging we get to fawn over Aaron, which is not a hardship anyway, and the most challenging music in the show for the women coincides with it, which distracts one from how unengaging it otherwise is.
From staging I ran to the car to go to Carmina/Chichester piano rehearsal, and made it in time before they did any of the stuff I had solos in. Can I just say I love Klaus-Peter Flor? He does not take any mediocre waffling from the chorus, and explains things clearly and repeats them until he gets exactly what he wants, and I love what he wants. It brings out all the subtleties in the score that choral singers usually miss due to mediocre compromise, and makes it twice as fun (those pieces are already infinitely fun, so do the math). It's also a rush to stand next to the conductor in front of the chorus with the other people in the quartet for the whole first and third movements. I love mixed formation, and the people I'm with are all great to sing with. Most fun I've ever had in an HSC rehearsal.
Now, let's see if I have a performance project due tomorrow. If not, I really do want to record some cello bits for Joodles.
