In my excitement about yesterday evening, I ignored the rest of the day. The 6-hour rehearsal was reduced to 5, as the chorus wasn't called till 11, so that was a substantial bite taken out of the fatigue. As is clear and evident from my past explication on the subject, I am morally opposed to the bel canto genre. Therefore, five or six hours of consecutive immersion in it would tend to make me grumpy, wouldn't you think? L'elisir d'amore is one of the most extreme examples one can find. It does. However, the fun of a blocking rehearsal and the good company (not to mention the occasional triumph of the acting and commitment over the genre) made it worth being there.

Katie's recital was similarly triumphant. She's always utterly elegant, composed, and in control, something I could do well to learn. It was a lovely cap to a very progressive undergraduate career, and the reception was delicious (this is the time of year when one might live on reception food, so it's always nice when there's actually food there).

Dan's show was just as good the second time, and though the cast had their own party at his house, there are only about 12 people involved in the show, so their cast parties are pretty small-scale. Maybe they'll want to come salsa next weekend.
