Well, we kind of stayed up till 4:30 there, didn't we?

I walked to Lovett to see a bit of their show's rehearsal, and because Dan said Paul would get me food after Elixir rehearsal. It has reasonably entertaining, for the level of rehearsal they're on, and they're all such high-energy performers I bet it'll be exhausting, too. I finished the food (the rumors are right, South's food doesn't meet North standards, but I am grateful nonetheless), snuck out, and called Joodles to see if he wanted to come over. He did; he met me at Lovett to get his guitar, and we walked enthusiastically back to my house (he's rather enthusiastic in general, and he's also a head and a half taller than me, so I was a bit out of breath when we got here).

We worked some more on that Walkin' song, and got it to a state in which all the holes are filled (nothing is ever finished, just abandoned, right?), and then started on a new project, which is gorgeous and lullaby-like. He tried to get me to play cello for it, and seemed impressed with what I came up with off the top of my head and not having touched the instrument for three years, but I managed to prevent him from recording any of it (it was just barely above disgraceful). I need to come up with a melody that's worthy of the sweet medieval feel. Then maybe I'll practice a couple weeks and come up with some cello fills. I showed him about an hour of Rachmaninoff (various pieces, piano, choral, and orchestral) to distract him from the cello, and he appreciated them properly.

It was around midnight when Catherine arrived to give me back the Wall she borrowed last time she was over, and we determined that Stephan should drive us to CVS, so we called him, and he complied. We got Joodles some dye, and spent the rest of the productive night turning his head red. There was an episode of House in there during the waits, and around 2:30 Stephan bowed out and went home. After we got Joodles dry and he settled on the living room floor with the dogs, I started playing them a capella stuff (I don't remember how it started, but they seemed amenable, and as you know I can melt at it for days at a time). Catherine, it seems, is a fellow superbass fan, and just as moved by great ensemble. Joodles liked it, too. However, around 4:30 as we wound down, I decided they shouldn't walk back by themselves given the recent muggings on Mandell, so I bundled them up on blankets and put them in bed in my mom's room so they could go in the morning.

As they did. Around 10. Hopefully they don't have much to do this afternoon that requires they be coherent. I know Joodles has some liver-killing parties ahead of him this weekend, including Casino Party at which he has to run a craps table, but I don't know how much more recording he can do. I, at least, don't have Scenes until 7 this evening. I'll be truly alive by then, by my estimates.
