The long haul. Bwahhh. I managed not to do any work over break except yesterday and today, and those were the days that other things caught up with the momentum of spring. A dragon accidentally happened on a huge piece of watercolor paper most of the day yesterday, with one little VW response paper in there somewhere. And then Came the night.

I received a desperate phone call in the early evening, seeking my mad cat-sitting skillz, but she couldn't bring the cat until after midnight. So I pledged myself to stay up till the cat came. Watching Rome. Instead of doing the other response paper. I mean, I read the optional article, but I didn't do the other paper.

Stephan crept into the living room around 1 in the morning with a favor to ask. He wanted me to hide in Ben's room while he brought a boy through the living room. I, somewhat amused, asked whether the boy objected to roommates, but complied amiably enough, and only emerged again after the boy was long past, to greet the cat arrival around 3am. The cat came with much equipment, which I spent some time setting up. Meanwhile, cat. Curious. Goes in Stephan's room. Scares Stephan's boy.

I, fortunately immune to social awkwardness, respond uninhibited to Stephan's call when he notices the cat, and come in to get it, wearing a nightshirt and a pair of Stephan's boxers (I'd already prepared for bed). He introduces us (the boy's name was Sam), and I leave with cat and finish the Rome episode I was watching before crashing. Cat crashes happily also in whatever crook of arm, leg or stomach is available.

This morning I orchestrate a veritable ballet of relocation with various cars and bike; cat to my house, me back to Stephan's, music to Shepherd, article from library to Shepherd... It was a masterpiece, and I wasn't late to lesson. I even had an hour to practice beforehand. And it was a good lesson.

Rehearsal was seven hours long, but pleasant enough. I heard some amazing stories, including those of Dan's injury, Grace's ex-boyfriend, Keith's injury (mourn, for he is no longer Dancing Dick McGann, but his replacement looks decent), John's haircut, and Lauren's poking Jamie in his brand-new appendectomy incision (I didn't so much hear that story as just see it happen, and though it was tragic it was also hysterical, even for Jamie).

So now I am letting Stephan walk me through his Spanish presentation on Santa Maria de Iquique and avoiding the last VW response, because my copy of the article is illegible (source of stress momentum during lulls in rehearsal, though I did get it from the library). Maybe I'll watch the last current Rome ep.

You can watch this and be hilariated. Susan found it, and despite the age warning it's not sketchy in any way, just funny.
