Today was happy. So was last night, but this morning kind of took the cake when I managed to sleep through several hours of blasting Brahms and vacuuming from Ben's room, clattering of dishes and silverware from the kitchen, and rearrangement of the living room where I was asleep. And then after the four of us had a long living-room conversation about many things and mostly nothing, Bryan sat on the arm of the couch I was on and hugged my head for no discernible reason. We've determined that Ben and Bryan, as a couple, are the only real inhabitants of the house. Stephan, since he cleans nothing up after himself, nails everything he can, and is generally gregarious and friendly, is their pet dog. I'm their cat, since I live there only half the time and you can hardly tell when I've been there.
I left a house with only Stephan in it (Ben and Bryan left instructions to call the police if they weren't back from their run in 27 minutes) to go to the Gem show. Since mama is sick with the same thing I just finished having, she dropped me off and went home, which means in addition to all the amazing loot I acquired for myself, I got her a couple Christmas and birthday presents. Here is the loot list:

2 10-yard rolls of 18-gauge green wire
1 of gold-plated wire
faience scarab bead
silver Eye of Horus pendant
egg-sized chunk of green laboradorite
Ancient Roman bronze coin (struck between 1 and 500 AD) with Minerva and Securitas Republicae on one side, an emperor whose name I can't read on the other side
a strand each of faceted egg translucent light aventurine beads, triangular dark aventurine beads, drop clear dark amethyst beads
pendant of brown boulder with lightning strike of the purplest opal ever
for mama:
pendant of disturbingly purple boulder opal
small rectangle of silicon-coated drusy that looks like the religious experience I had with molten copper
Chorale rehearsal and ItW rehearsal later, so today should stay good.
