After I woke up late again (the rest of Wonder Boys was good), we had a West Wing episode for breakfast. In the mood for lunch and an adventure, Stephan and I set off to find a restaurant we hadn't been to. We tried to drag Bryan, but he stayed home for lunch. More on our resentment of his cast-iron work ethic later.

We ended up going to Istanbul Grill in the Village, where Stephan had been before but on a depressive day by himself, and it was fantastically Turkish. The succeeded in exciting me with their exotic ambience. I really like lamb. And baklava. And apple tea. We were giddy and resentful at the same time, if that's not impossible. There were mosaics and woven tablecloths and nonWestern scales and chased and hammered dishes, and the waiter kept hitting on Stephan, and we had a good time, but it's hard on a guy's friends to miss him while he's still there. Especially with Ben gone this weekend. Bryan's constantly working on things that hardly matter or could be healthily postponed. I'm not trying to undermine his work ethic, just... well, maybe I am. I'm not jealous, because I get my work done and do a good job on it, but he doesn't seem to understand how much we'd love it if he made a slight adjustment to his priorities. Either that, or he doesn't care, which would be worse by far.

Now Stephan's found something to work obsessively on because Bryan's made him feel guilty about work, so I'll go home and help with the water heater (and apprently we're replacing the fridge, too), and then go to the FMM concert by myself at 5.
