Mm, work. Nice solid day of near incompetence, starting after lunch with a rehearsal of the first 17-tone music I've ever attempted to sing. I hate not knowing what I'm doing. I even got distracted rhythmically and ended up just looking like a dumb singer. Oh, well. I think they know I'm not. I hope.

Vocal Rep at least covered a period and country I'm familiar with, but all this Bel Canto trash is going to kill me on the test. I do not know, nor do I care, about the minute differences between Italian style at the beginning and end of the eighteenth century. But I ought to, so I'll cram with Dan. Eventually.

My coaching with Tom (first ever!) was cut short by a fairly useless recit-scene coaching for opera workshop with a piano student. I appreciate the need to understand the conventions and purpose of recitative, but did that really help? And none of us in the scene had really learned it, so it was even less productive.

Chorale was enjoyable, as Irving Fine makes almost anything so. Di boni, I love the Hour-Glass cycle. Afterwards, though, my ego got a further beating in 17-tone rehearsal, this time with the other participating composer also there as witness to my scattering brains. They played some amazing stuff themselves, then, practicing after I gave up.

I showed up at Stephan's in time to learn how to write a bibliography and walk to get Chinese food with the boys. It sure is fun to watch them. Anyway, we walked there and back (they went around a huge parking lot after getting stuck in the maze; I just hopped the fence) and then finished the food in time for a Rome with Bryan. That was well timed. My music rehearsal for the show started at 9, and, thanks to Bryan's helpful lift, I made it. I was pretty scattered there, too, but the music was easier, so it was harder to tell.

I did spend a mite of tiem at the library, but I decided to do the RILM and Music Index searches from work.

Which is looking good, since there are only two sports articles left to come in. Maybe I'll get things done for classes other than the ones held tomorrow.
