Today has been a day of small journeys and much reading. I woke at 8:30 as I'd planned, but no one was up yet. Mama's snoring made it impossible to fall asleep again, so I dragged a beanbag to the laundry room and let the white noise lull me. Apparently I needed the sleep, because mama woke me at noon to go with everybody to a little monument in the next town Gail wanted me to translate. During the stumble out of the car and grasping for handholds to keep from falling into a ditch, I had my first encounter with that most ancient and European of poisonous plants, the stinging nettle. Then we looked at the hotel where they first stayed when they got here.
Last night's House had finished downloading by the time we got back, so mama and I watched it as Gail took Eric and Michael to karate and did errands. It had an amazing melting face of doom. And another friend. Whoa. Now he has two.
There will be food soon, and we go to see the working falcons on the airfield early in the morning.
