The Holst was hardly even a concert. We're the last of the last on the program, so we don't get to our places till half an hour before we sing, and our places are upstairs outside the doors of the mezzanine. It's ridiculous. At least I can read a book while we wait. I'm not having much fun with this concert series.

I lit four incense burners at once and played Zep I very loud on the amp from the cd player as an aromamusictherapy stress relief at the end (or so I thought) of my day. The data recovery people were hard to talk to, being a reminder of my careless folly in dropping the machine that has the most importance of any machine in my life. I could build a fire if the microwave broke, I could shower somewhere else if the water main died, I could live off campus power if there were an outage on my block. But my computer has irreplaceable things on it, and I want them back, so because I didn't back it up I must pay the price.

In any case, I meditated upon that subject and less depressing ones to the smell of incense and the sound of Babe I'm Gonna Leave You till Dan called and we went to the Twenty party. Max's infamous dwelling was at its typical maximum occupancy, and once Becky and Carrie left, I was one of two straight people there (the other being Katina). Dan got plastered almost immediately, and therefore extremely friendly. His new boy Josh, an adoptive member of my O-week group, managed to sustain a coherent conversation with me. Worthwhile person, there. Alex, the boy who played Tilden in Buried Child and in front of whom I made such a fool of myself after that show, was having a strange time and kept trying to find somewhere to sit or talk that wouldn't be awkward. He looked very hard, but did not find such a place. He ended up riding back with us when Diego decided it was time to go. He had Dan's keys, so he got to decide, despite the protests of Dan and Josh. I don't know how much he actually suffered, but Dan's drunken nattering seemed to bother him on the way home, and I was sad he didn't have a good time. He's always so nice to us. The amazingness I perceived when I got to know him in the show hasn't diminished.

Dan McNickle was also there, oddly enough. He sat and had long conversations with me as we mutually accidentally ignored Alex boy. He misses Stephan, too, and wishes I'd come around the house more even when Stephan's not there. Aw. Maybe I will. I want to ask Ben some stuff anyway. But usually the way I got to Stephan's house was in Stephan's car. I guess we'll see about these things.
