It's turned into that time of year when, unless I do something notable and notably different every day, all the days are the same. It's the lovely sameness of summer, don't get me wrong; one of the reasons I love my job so much is that I get to read all night for it, and summer is just like that except I don't have to get up in the morning. I get to read all the time except when mama decides I should do something, and it's usually not unreasonable (for example, yesterday I washed and clipped the dogs in preparation for our not being here for three weeks). I get to read all day, punctuated with small conditions of productivity, and occasionally something exceptionally cool comes along. Holst's Planets concert week starts tonight, and piano+orchestra rehearsal were last night.
That was not an idyllic part of summer, except for the reading I did in the huge gaps between times when we were called for. It's only the women's chorus, at the very end of Neptune, and we're positioned--this is fairly interesting--outside the doors, half of the women on opposite sides of the top floor of the mezzanine. That makes relaying instructions by busybody chorus manager and assistant director highly unreliable, let alone being together with the orchestra when we're actually singing. So that was irritating. Along with many things.
But all in all, it's quite lovely. I finally got part 2 of Euphoria, and I longingly await Tuesday. The plane leaves in time for the torrent to be up when we get there. I'll be an international pirate!
