Very productive music rehearsal this afternoon, I think. And then costumes. I am never going to live this down. I don't know why, but a Catholic schoolgirl outfit in this show is somehow worse than a red velvet minidress in La Cage. Ah, well. I guess this means I'll have to shave my legs. And, um, learn how to wear a skirt.
I took a very short Debussy-filled nap before Stephan came and ate some salmon, and then we went downtown and killed an hour and a half before the ballet started. I'd try to describe it, but let us just say it started with Piazzolla and ended with techno, and everything in between was just as intense. There were three "acts," the first set in the 20's in a brothel, the second in the 50's in a club in Spanish Harlem, the third in New York in I don't know what year, but there's an ultraviolet DJ and craziness. And, yeah, there was dancing. Tango to trance. Ballet Hispanico has succeeded in impressing me. I think I will go to bed and meditate on the complete and utter amazement I feel.
Oh, and by the way, Burfy took some pictures during rehearsal and party last night. I find them highly amusing. Pre-rehearsal prep, the opening, Children, Children, Inside Your Heart, and Post-Alcohol Dan.
