My mother's long-standing tradition of wrapping presents late Christmas Eve and long into the wee hours of Christmas morning, thereby getting no sleep and having a happily sleep-deprived Christmas Day-- this tradition, of which as soon as I reached the age of competent present-wrapping, I was a part, may have been broken this year. It's still three days till Christmas, and we spent all day today wrapping. Many of the ten extended families have been accounted for, but the thing is that it keeps growing! Lisa's kids have kids, now. Paul was the first cousin to remove me; I am now a first cousin once removed to his kid. And his brother Kevin's. Amy's daughters Heather and Marissa are both pregnant, Marissa with twin boys. At least babies are easy to find presents for.

Thusly, there is an expanding pile of wrapped presents at the foot of the dining room table, with subcategories to send to Misourri, Germany, and various other places, since a few branches aren't coming to Lake Jackson this year. I have my own set of caches for certain family members in my room, waiting for my mom to leave so I can wrap them.

As for friends, well... Andrew's covered and received, Reggie's covered, Susan's covered, still (not) working on Dan, and I have absolutely no idea what to get for a fair number of people. Relative to how many Christmas-present friends I have.
