Opera: good. Better than Wednesday, even. Jimmy's drag is absolutely fantastic, I will say once again, and I will make a comparison later in this post which I would not have been able to make before tonight/this morning. Audience appreciated him much more tonight.

Party: eh. I went straight from the opera as a gingerbread zombie (makeup still on from the show) and it hadn't started yet when I got there. So I waited, sat on the couch, played with the cat, ran lines to myself. Sean called back, said he'd be 15 minutes or so. He arrived, fixed his costume (he looks pretty good in just a towel, socks and sandals; apparently this is a character from Arrested Development?), and proceeded to hang out with the hosts. I mean, he brought me a sprite, it's not like he ignored me intentionally, but ... Apparently I had overestimated my ability to party after a show. A couple interesting characters sat on the couch next to me and tried to chat up the wallflower speaking in tongues to herself and very purposefully not looking at the dog-eared book in her hand. More people in interesting, lame or skanky costumes arrived, drank, and became loud. The smoke (of several varieties, some herbal) started drifting in through the front door. I could see this wasn't going to be my gig if I didn't do some active socializing, and I didn't feel very social, so I called Stephan and he came and rescued the wallflower standing on the streetcorner playing with another cat, took me to his house, and went absolutely and insanely queer. He commanded me to ask Bryan about his sexual preferences next time I see him, and then. And then. He sat me down to watch a movie, one which he had watched once tonight already.

Hedwig: SO COMPLETELY AWESOME AHHHH REGGIE WHY DID YOU NOT DRAG MY IGNORANT EYES TO A TELEVISION WITH THIS ON IT IF YOU KNEW ABOUT IT AND I DIDN'T!?!?! Now I have to teach Stephan what the movie means, because it is absolutely saturated with references and homages and derivations of classic rock. He doesn't even know who Phil Collins is. Augh.

Me: even more exhausted than I was at 9:30 after the opera and didn't feel up to socializing. I hope Sean doesn't think I ditched him or the party. It was a good party, I'm sure. And he looks very good in a towel. But I was a zombie in more than name and appearance.

Oh, yeah, Velvet Goldmine, which Stephan said is similar, and then I made the connection to stuff you knew about... I want to see.

You could try harder for stuff that doesn't matter, or you could KILL YOUR PARENTS AHHHhh ... or not.

So now we have to watch Hedwig and I have to tell you all the stuff that is in it that you probably don't know either, though at least you have heard a few of the songs they refer to. Stephan is sooo completely rock-ignorant.

I told you about the doing things you don't care about . . .
