Well, that was an awesome and exhausting day. After a minor road trip (we accidentally took the 2 1/2 hr scenic route to the Renfest), we finally arrived and tramped in and about to my favorite places as I showed Stephan around it for my birthday and his. I apparently spent too much time being distracted and sidetracked to the detriment of the goals of the group, but it was fun and I'm going back in more elaborate and comfortable costume, with Reggie especially.
It's a weird experience being courted as a sword customer in Angel Sword. I fell deeply in love with a $2000 wooden/leather-wrapped/amethyst-set hilt, single-edged curved blade, that the very friendly, helpful, knowledgable and chivalrous guy showed me (he got it right the first time; I told him straight and double-edged, but he brought that to me first and I never found one for which I could get over the amethysts). Usually the more expensive shops' employees ignore students, although never Angel Sword, but that guy was really VERY cool. I liked him a lot, and I kind of want to go back just to prove how good he was. Plus he took me upstairs and told me about what they can do about custom swords, and they could make me one that fit me even more than the purple one, and that could cost less. However, as I was discussing with the boys after I escaped from the thrall of the swordshop, I think it'd be cool to bring a sword I made and ask them for an apprenticeship. The thing is I've never forged a blade, just made them out of things I already had.
So, now I am tired.
I was just enough on time for the rehearsal (they would have crucified me if I'd been late). When I got inside it was the gingerbread kids scene, in which we have to hold up a house for half a scene and then be stiff zombies in poses that are supposed to denote intense pain (guess how the director decided would be the best way to get that effect?) and then we have to dance around in a circle and rejoice exuberantly about being set free. Of course, in a choreography rehearsal, we do this at least twelve times, slightly differently each time. My knees were nearly shot by the end of that rehearsal. So then I carried my 30-pound bag (chainmail) back home from Shepherd, normall a 15-minute walk, but I didn't time it this time. And then I realized I needed to do my theory homework and Stephan wanted us to do it together, and my mom gave me a birthday present early when I got home so I could use it going to school before Wednesday. (I really am excited about it; it's purple). So I biked to Stephan's house and did theory homework and biked back. I dunno if my legs are going to work tomorrow. I have another four pages of diction homework and a set of German problems, and I am almost inclined to just crash and not go to German, but we missed enough with Rita that I'll probably never recover if I don't go.
To compensate for the stress of procrastination, I have the one thing I bought at Renfest: a magnolia-scented candle. Well, I bought my mom a gardenia one to give her for her birthday, too.
I'm so going back the weekend of Halloween. Unless I have rehearsals that interfere. That would really suck. I guess I should look at that.
