Stephan, Ben, Rainey, Bryce, and Bryan are leaving. David and Grandjo are staying in Lake Jackson, but David can't get boards over the windows without help. The traffic is terrible; we can't get down there today. Robert's house is in a mandatory evacuation area over by NASA, but he's staying. He also needs help with boards. Dan is coming to help us turn the trampoline over; we can't do it by ourselves. We'll put lots more stuff in the garage and garage apartment, and the cats and plants will be next (in the house, not the garage).
We will go preemptively shovel out the storm drain, probably tomorrow before we help David.
I'm a little worried about the large number of windows, (my bathroom is the only room that doesn't have any, unless you count the attic) but most of them are under the porch or behind a wrought-iron gate. The rest are somewhat protected by huge cushioning sago palms.
Actually, my biggest concern right now is the piano door. It doesn't latch. Since it's roped shut, it should be fine, but if it's not, I worry for the piano.
Meanwhile, I will sit here with nothing to do (only homework, and since school is canceled till Monday, who's doing that). You know what? As much fun as it is by myself (and make no mistake about it, it is), watching West Wing is even more fun with company. I want a hurricane party. As Andrew said, much composing will perhaps be accomplished this weekend. I have some ideas. And candles are always very inspiratory.
