My afternoon was certainly more full of manual labor than I expected, but it went well. I had the urge to restore my bathroom to its former feline glory, which meant I had to clean it first, so there was much of the sweeping and mopping and scrubbing on hands and knees of the disgusting marble floor, but now it is relatively pristine. And then there was much dusting and sponging of frames and replacings of broken glass and forays out into the deeps of the flea-infested garage for screws and glass and more frames. And then there was much eyeball measuring and strenuous lifting to make sure and holding of fingers on spots and hammering and hanging of heavy pictures.
But now my bathroom is once again clean and full of cat cards, and I am tired and must do my German homework. I had a nice talk with Alan, though. My aversion to phone conversations seems to go into remission at his calls. It's partially because I never see him, and the calls are rare enough that we have enough to talk about so it's full of nonstop enthusiastic volleys rather than peppered with the awkward silences my verbal incompetence tends to produce.
Anyway, I had a good time today, and I wasn't expecting to. In the spirit of the Emmys, which I saw briefly (von Stade has lost it, man. Star Trek ToS theme is supposed to be an octave higher than that), I'd like to thank Led Zeppelin, mama, Richard and Lorinda, Lee and Alan for making it much more interesting than a mere sub in church gig and cleaning and hanging up pictures ought to be.
