Last night, Gidon Kremer and the most intense expression of Shostakovich ever and a jazz encore that was so schmaltzy I could just melt.
Tonight, Turn of the Screw. Folks, this is not a cute opera. We all knew Britten was weird, but give him a novel by Henry James, and we've got a libretto for the quasi-damned.
The cover cast is apparently better than the A cast; Stephan went last night and tonight, and he said so. I like Jennifer Moore's overthetopness anyway. I'll see the A cast on Saturday.
The thing I forgot about that's on Friday was the opening day of Finding Neverland. Though I suppose Thursday night at midnight is really the premiere. The thing I forgot about on Saturday is Salad's party, which will doubtless go until the next morning and is thus no reason to miss Turn of the Screw.
