Concert, not so bad. I prefer the Durufle motets to the Requiem. They make more Gregorian sense. I think Reggie did too. It's not that I don't like the Requiem, it's that it's so labored and the phrases don't follow one another. That may have been intentional as an expressive device, but from what I've heard Durufle took forever to write anything and it was really, really hard work. So maybe it just sounds like exactly how much work it was. Or maybe it's just French interpretation of Gregorian Chant and the phrases aren't supposed to make sense.

Convinced Reggie's dad to let him come to Alexander Technique workshop today. Will be good for him. It's a pity his mom has to sew. Dunno about Gem Show tomorrow. I mean, I'm going, but he would like it so much and it would be so funnnn...

Dropping by Bryce's to gloat over new Led Zeppelin, Yes, Pink Floyd and Fleetwood Mac cds and a stick was a good idea. Melanie was there, and she'd heard the story of e through Bryce (somewhat distortedly), so I decided she deserved to hear it, and we went back to Jones and ended up spending an hour listening to it, comp club spring concert (only the good parts), and Shostakovich, and talking about them. Bryce is good for Melanie. I think she's a lot more stable now. She's more like she was before I knew, and before I knew she was my best friend at PVA. It's a good change, though it will be even better if she gets away from her mom.

Mama got the yearly letter from NEC telling who the Kimball Stickney Memorial Scholarship fund goes to this year, and we talked about NEC. It was the one consideration that made me vacillate about abandoning the conservatory route entirely. I may just end up doing the same thing Mama did and apply after I've finished here to the Third Stream department. It's SO cool. Right now, though music is a big part of life, the level is not where it could be (and that includes me). I went to Rice because other things were important to me, too. And they still are. But once I get a degree in them, and know a lot, I can do them without school and do music in school to the degree it deserves to be done. I want to do music, yeah.
