I regret not being able to stay for more of the night, because all we did at first was go eat, but what I did see was... well, some was good and some was not. But I am going to go get that Popper requiem out of the ilbrary.
Then! Ah! HSC rehearsal was Mahler first, which is tremendous, and I am getting it out of the library too so I can obsess over it some more. AND THEN he passed out the first bits of stuff for the a capella cd. And guess what? Adagio for Strings. I purred. And I'm singing first on it this time, so I get to yell my heart out on a bflat at the climax. Aaaah. the second a capella piece is some Brahms doublechorus thing that isn't terribly interesting, but we'll see if it improves. We're also going to get Ginastera Lamentations of Jeremiah which I haven't sung but my mom has rhapsodized over, and I love Ginastera anyway, so there... And... something else by somebody I haven't heard of. The rest of the cd program is still up in the air because we don't know what venue we're recording it in yet. I am desperately hoping for a sacred venue. We must do bits of Vespers. We Must. WE MUST AAHHH
When I got home, Stephan desperately wanted to come over, so I let him, and he ended up staying till 1:30 stressing out over his theory composition assignment. The boy is insane. And some very obvious things don't occur to him. I mean, I guess they must not have occurred to me either when I was writing a score trying to fit it on one page for the first time... but they seem so... intuitive. Oh well. His pieces are cute, and mine took me about ten minutes so we'll see what Lavenda thinks. Poor Stephan. He hates staying up late on school nights. I could make so much fun of him. But I won't. Haha.
