Came home for lunch, instead of going to Sammy's, because I have no money. Not a problem, there's food at home. We got an hour and a half today, and it takes me barely fifteen minutes to walk from Sewell to home. I have to be back at the Student Center at 12:50, so we can all merrily hop along to Butcher for the afternoon lab. The teacher is not all she's cracked up to be. When I asked if there was a difference between iron fillings and the filings I had only seen before, she studiously explained that filing (FY-ling) is what you do to papers to organize them, or maybe to glass to make it smooth. She actually thought that the little bits of iron you drag around with a magnet are fillings (FIH-lings) (and she put it that way on the quiz, as well as pronounceing it like that), and I had to explain to her that no, they are filings, like what comes off if you file a piece of iron. Gah. Mama says I need to go to the Summer School HQ and tell them that. Because they want good teachers. I mean, she's not BAD, but she can only think of things one way and often misinterprets a student's question, giving them a long involved explanation that has nothing to do with what the student asked. Hm. I suppose that is kinda bad. Especially for a chemist. She's not precise in the least, and sometimes I doubt her accuracy. I caught her making up facts on her oral explanation of the Notes transparency, that they didn't really know how the guy who did it discovered neutrons, when I had just read how he did it in the textbook. Maybe I should go to the HQ. It's right there. I'm so glad I live so close to Rice. I think I really may be planning to go there. Life is not so bad, once I'm out of the immediate vicinity of five sheets of transparency notes. Then I start thinking about how much I already miss Nia, Ally, Ev, and B. Mirf.

She sounds like the "good" chem teacher at our school... you know, the one we didn't get? >.< Urgh...
I miss you! I think I've already said that... but okay...
~Nia... again
