This Tuesday, June 1, 7:00 pm will be the first of only four rehearsals in preparation for our performances of the new Lord of the Rings Symphony - sure to be a popular event! The chorus sings in all six movements and the text includes the Elvin language.Ê
Next season is going to be equally exciting including some repertoire we have never performed.Ê Das Klagende Lied of Gustav Mahler will be an exciting work to perform with its large orchestral texture, chorus and soloists. For Christmas Pops Maestro Krajewski is commissioning a new choral/orchestral work based on the African Noel.Ê In addition we will be performing our own unaccompanied piece and other music we have not sung.Ê Messiah will bring back Nicolas McGegan to lead us in a larger than usual performance. In February we are planning a Classical Knockouts Concert including great operatic choruses such as the Verdi's Anvil Chorus, Wagner's Bridal Chorus, Handel's Zadock the Priest and many other "hit" choruses. In a later concert the men will perform the choruses from Beethoven's Fidelio and of course the full Alexander Nevsky (the complete film version) with the film playing as we sing.
We will also be recording next year!Ê The first will be a new Christmas CD featuring Glad Tidings - Randol Bass (which was commissioned for our performances last year) and A Feast of Carols also by Randol Bass which includes some wonderful carol arrangements.Ê The second recording will be done in the Spring and will feature the chorus alone performing some of the great acappella works for large choir including portions of Rachmaninov's Vespers, Brahms Fest und Gedenkspruche, op. 109, Tallis' Spem in allum, among other masterworks!
AAAAAAAAAAAH!
