There was a real Bat Boy rehearsal last night. It was highly exciting. The chorus surprised me with its coherence, and life will be even better once we have music. Acting for a competent director, even just introductorily, was one of the most satisfying artistic experiences I've had since I finished Res Mira. Burfy knows what he's doing, and he's willing to tell you some ideas if you're even more amateur than everyone else and don't have any of your own. This show is going to be so much fun. I realize I've said that at least nine times already, but it's still my expectation, and I'm excited about it, so you should be, too. :D

After rehearsal I went back to Stephan's house (I spent the afternoon there watching WW and being shown Latin American folk and showing him the theory listening; don't tell me what it is! I have to react by myself). We ended up staying up till 3ish, doing various things things but mostly exploring (and in my case, organizing to upload; stay tuned) the listening lists for theory and history for the whole semester. In between there, as much as I hate femininity in general and have, especially recently, found girls to be tooth-grindingly obnoxious presences as a rule, I am actually marginally female; therefore, I ameliorated the travesty and impediment to efficient living that was the boys' kitchen. It was impossible to get anything cooked eaten, or washed in that haven of entropy. Anyway. I eventually tired of Firefox reading my html files as Word documents, so I got Stephan to take me home because it was raining and I didn't want to bike. Today's been a trial. I like to get places faster than walking.

I did record the theory lecture this morning, Andrew, but I don't know how far it got before it spontaneously turned off. It was mainly about the correspondence between 20th-century music and 20th-century scientific theory anyway, and not much about analysis. Ling, on the other hand, came ridiculously close to having things to do with 20th-century theory, and looks to be a mind-extending endeavor. Perhaps I will discover the Unified Field Theory this year.

Snrrr. Too much terrible Charles in rehearsal tonight, but for some reason my exhaustion made it easier to relax, bear the terrible direction, and enjoy the music. I had fun in spite of him, and Daphnis & Chloe is going to be gorgeous.

I'm still excited about Bat Boy, and I have recovered from the shock of the nonBrel situation (rejection of our application for the rights came in Stephan's mail today). Maybe next year. Meanwhile, shall we do something from the public domain?
