Back. It was Grandjo's birthday today, so we took her to lunch. And now it is time for the first Verdi Requiem rehearsal. My intimate knowledge of this piece (particularly the Dies Irae) comes not from experience, but from that night before the end-of-year Chorale Party when my mom decided it was a good piece to keep her awake to do housecleaning all night. It was. But I didn't mind.
It's amazing how easily Charles can suck the fun out of a rehearsal of even the most fun music. I mean, the Verdi Requiem. Come on. And it was even less fun because the glue that has coated my respiratory system since school got out was interfering with my range above the staff. Luckily, the party after rehearsal was better. Quite a crowd showed up. Nice to see them again.
I have hereby gotten around to posting a list of this year's Christmas loot; prepare to be impressed and deathly envious.
Incidentally, I also went outside today waiting for life to start, and sewed oak leaves together with Spanish moss through holes I poked with a stick.
