Billy Joel is the god of universe. I had no idea he did The Longest Time. Anyone who can be brilliant with uplifting a capella, angsty rock, and ballads, and do it to pay the bills because he wants to write classical, is the god of the universe. Also, he can put on a killer New York accent. Or Puerto Rican.

I forgot to mention the food last night. It has been a long time since I was unable to finish a plate, and it wasn't because we had to sing in between courses. I don't think I'm going to eat until tonight, just so I can finish the prime rib and the asparagus.

What is it about turning something into a stage that makes it magic? We didn't sing as well as we have in the past, and the audience was probably more interested in their food than us (though they were very polite), but just the fact of its being a show made the dim recesses of the sunken dining room into a castle and the stand light for the trumpet fanfare into a fairy lantern. The band who took sets in between our songs has a guitar and a dulcimer.

This is possibly the most-laid-back, happiest song in existence. I want to toss rocks into a pond in the sun and twirl a string in rhythm.

I have not been so decisively procrastinatory in a long time. Many things due tomorrow, many tests this weekend, much extracurricular to get done. I sit here reading fanfic and listening to real rock (not that trash they play in the gym). Fanfic ate my brain. Can I write my paper on it? My neck hurts. I think I have bruises from the massage mama gave me. I need another one.

Good skill tonight, symphony. I don't even know what you're playing, but I'm sorry to miss it. Madrigal dinner was fun again.
