I have now seen every single extra feature on the Pirates DVD I snitched from my suitemates. Every commentary, every gag reel, every interview... It only took two days, as opposed to each book of LotR, which is a four-day effort for each one, but... I desperately want a poofy shirt and some eyeliner (I have bandannas and sashes and breeches, and I can get boots). Failing that, I would really really appreciate a sequel as quickly as possible (not sacrificing quality for speed, but still, quickly). I also desperately need the soundtrack, one theme though there be. Right now I must make do with LotR, while, though magnificent, does not have the same piratical feel and is merely epic and swoopy. Or orcish, which is good, but in a different way and totally undermines the carefree and roaming feel... I can't believe I'm analyzing the psychological effect of pirate music (and lack thereof).

I have decided that Sam will be "kidnapped" by a band of piratical Subterranean gypsies (there are very few seagoing cats in Ailuria, not enough to make piracy a worthwhile industry) and he will take up with them and be their minstrel since he can't fight or raid governmental wagon trains very well, and they appreciate his training much more than the journeyman circuit did anyway, so he enjoys it. I couldn't figure out a way to justify having him as a character in the Saga, because sure, Afri needs somebody to care about as a hostage, but he's such a decent person that anyone will do and he's got 'Rae, so Sam was fairly redundant... But now he can be the Clarion Five's connection to the underground (literally and literarily) organized "crime" which is trying to deal with Ailurian life under the steel claws of the usurper Ssela, and make her unworthy governance more difficult.

Pirates are inspiring. :)
