Bryce and I actually made decent inroads on our calculus project, and then I took three cds to Roger's (all of them were gifts from Reggie) and played him the Poulenc double piano concerto and the Rach playing Rach, both of which he loved. We sang, though not so much as usual, cause we were all tired... But then Roger exclaimed and put on a cd that I must now have, and burn copies of for everyone I know. Or maybe just people who care.

Berlioz tried to throw it away, but didn't succeed... it was his first work ever performed, and it was performed like twice in 1827, and then never again till this French choir found it and did it. It's his Messe Solennelle, or Missa Solemnis, or Solemn Mass, whichever language you prefer, and it has the early elements of everything else cool he ever did.. it's inconceivable how many different, discontinuous yet sequitur themes and ideas and cool stuff there is in this one big mass. It's not his Requiem, we did that inMexico City and it's cool, too, but this is the original from which pieces of that came. It's... indescribable. And so French, and unbelieveable that it's contemporaneous with Beethoven.

Anyway, I had a fairly good day, was stuffed with jelly beans this morning and salmon and talapia this evening. Leftover for days; Roger bought like 6 pounds of salmon. I must get the Berlioz Missa, and show it to people and enlighten them.

I'm happy with the fingerings. It looks just like his hands.
