The ride to Pre-Area from school was fun, the lounging about before singing was nervous fun, but then... Bad, stressful audition. I bombed both the cuts and the sight-reading. It was nice to be petted and coddled for it, but the worst was when it turned out I'd still been able to go on, and friends who had been reasonably confident (and I heard one, in my section, and she did orders of magnitude better than I) had not. Two second-alternates. We're killing some tenor IIs and alto IIs. And the guilt is depressive, because I don't really know how to pet and coddle properly. It's always an exercise in humility when somebody handles the same disappointment without your incompetent help, much better than you did with his. And it turns out you had no reason... Well, we'll kill some tenors for him, or they'll fail.

Then, riding home, he has to deal with persecution from unsupportive family... My respect for that boy increases daily.

I, on the other hand, get congrats and attention from attendants of a rehearsal I missed to do the dumb audition. And got to gossip about it to them, and be joked with and upon by my Salad. They're looking forward to Tony's membership.

Salad seemed impressed by my copper experiences, just thought I should mention. He had to confirm my revierie with the blowtorch wasn't a dream. :pridepride: Well, Fi had knives in her car so I went out to see. She got a double-bladed single-sheath katana with dragons. It's cool. Had to find all positive aspects of the night... It was pretty down. My head hurts. We're gonna kill/fail some tenors and altos so Star and Tony can audition at Area (they have to come, anyway... more piling time, at least).

We had a chorale rehearsal after school today, 4:30-5:30ish, and it reminded me how much I love the Pinkham. It's probably the intensity of voice/brass interaction (aside from the obvious pull of the music itself, which is superb). I like singing with brass. However.

Cut for musical jargon and rant. )
