I just saw the coolest Barber of Seville I think I've ever seen or heard of. Mama decided randomly that we needed to go, and I'm very glad we did. Don Basilio in a dress and fishnets and high-heels... Figaro as Elvis... the Buick and the Vespa driving all over the stage... wow. And the singing was great, too. I was fairly impressed with Rosina, but I must admit the tenor stole my suckered little heart. Even if he was a little wimpy in the beginning before he warmed up. His tone, though, was so _pretty_! And I'd forgotten that Rossini actually wrote some decent serenades, which were especially moving with just guitar accompaniment... I wish it were even vaguely traditional for girls to serenade, cause it's such a cool concept. Anyway, I'll have to look up those songs and learn them anyway, cause they're so cool. And we stayed for the little question-and-answer thing with the conductor afterwards, and learned a bit about the production... apparently the cast were all crying backstage cause it was closing night and they didn't want to leave.
I may have to actually go to bed tonight, because my mom is so sick she might not be able to sing tomorrow morning. Thus, I may be required to get up early, go to church and sub for her. Might be interesting.
