Underclassmen had their last TAKS today, and I spent it taking a German CBE. Went fairly well, actually. A lot of it was identifying things I heard, there was some writing (with only one section of grammar I didn't know), and then an oral composition at the end... I had to tell them what I did every day, and it was really amazing how I couldn't come up with much besides music (that I could articulate in German). I finally figured cd was a German enough word, and mentioned that I listen every now and then to a cd of my friend Reggie playing piano "sehr dramatisch." Hopefully that is really the word for "dramatically." I'm not checking.
Spent the rest of the day stressing and doing last-minute preparations for the concert, and it was convenient cause I had classes with flexible teachers who would just let me out the whole time to find people and rehearse with them and jump and sigh at Reggie and hope this concert would work.
It's done. Sigh of relief. It did not crash-and-burn as badly as it could have.
seymour507glass: OH, gooooooood recording of your art song
seymour507glass: blah, it has such good transitions
seymour507glass: haha, theres sooooo much time beetween that and the opera... why did avalon conduct?

Rion Soulkeeper: It was so much bigger than it seemed in rehearsals
seymour507glass: yeah

seymour507glass: haha

Rion Soulkeeper: what happened at the very beginning?

Rion Soulkeeper: hmm

seymour507glass: ahhhhh, i think they thin that i wrote the interlude! that must be it

Rion Soulkeeper: AHHH
seymour507glass: OH NO
seymour507glass: E FLAT
seymour507glass: *STABS VIOLINS SECTION*
Rion Soulkeeper: It was only Jose
Rion Soulkeeper: but

seymour507glass: oh no!
seymour507glass: it was a grace note

seymour507glass: during my PEICEA
seymour507glass: SDF'
seymour507glass: when its actualy a peice that YOU wrote... its far more anoying
Rion Soulkeeper: I can imagine
seymour507glass: when its your only recording
Rion Soulkeeper: I was both glad and annoyed I got to turn pages, cause it's harder to pay attention to the whole piece
seymour507glass: i kind of like the little glis-e things jose does when he can find a note
Rion Soulkeeper: yeah
seymour507glass: hes not very good
Rion Soulkeeper: I think he might have done it on purpose on one though
Then I had to miss the chamber concert cause I had a B9 rehearsal (which was not run well... they didn't start rehearsing with the chorus until 40 minutes after we'd gotten in our rows backstage). It was very tiring, especially after having sung/conducted bits of a concert. Afterwards we went to a restaurant with some Rice kids and Dr Farwell and Tom. Quite fun. It's a pity the seniors are leaving. They're cool. Though every year it seems the seniors get less and less cool... What are kids these days coming to?
TOMORROW! I rejoice, for it is a Reggie day, and then a B9 concert. EEe!
