Hmm. Rehearsal was better than I expected. We had a sub pianist, though, and he didn't play the lines we needed in the Kaddish... nobody can replace Scott, no matter how much you clap for the sub. It was slightly frustrating, cause Charles had us do stuff over again when it wasn't a problem but the cue. However, we got through most of the finale a capella, and fairly well, with some spots going smoothly by that we'd spent a lot of time on, before. Carmina rehearsal was, of course, tremendous... not because it was a particularly good rehearsal, but because it was Carmina. In fact, it was a fairly bad rehearsal of Carmina... that came up after rehearsal, at Kim Son.

Right at the end of the break, however, as I was talking to Rebekah (I think that's how she spells it) El-Saleh, she announced to her mother that I had a crush on the boy they drove home... Only four years... shut up. Interesting that there are three PVAers in the Symphony chorus now, and four in this concert, cause Wes is singing alto in the boys' choir. I looked for him before rehearsal started, but eventually I caught Sam (freshman assistant person in boychoir, of which Wes is assistant manager, gets paid by Ms. Nelson) and asked him, and Wes had gone home early, as he's been doing, and he gave me some reason, but I didn't hear it, as I was going back into the room for the not-so-great Carmina rehearsal.

Lee explained at dinner after rehearsal how tired he was getting of Charles not knowing what the markings were. McGegan is very particular, and we've been rehearsing this for weeks; it's his JOB to ask and give them to us. Those apostrophes at the endof the phrase, the ritardando that isn't in the score till the last measure of the piece but that everybody observes in every performance ever, the mispronunciation of the Middle High Germanic Latin... Yes, well. Lee's just tired of Carmina he's done it five or six times. I've only done it twice, but I don't think I could ever get tired of it. Ian certainly agreed with me on that one. And he must have done it zillions of times.

Our fortune cookie game was only quasi-entertaining this time. Only a few of them were particularly entertaining when one added the traditional "in bed" to the end... mine was "It is during difficult times that true friends become apparent." I'd just like to know what kind of difficult times I'm in for, in bed??

Yes. Anyway, good rehearsal (sort of... I miss Scott), good Vietnamese food that Thi guided us through and gabbed with the waiters in Vietnamese for, good company (Corita, Lee, Ian, Chuck, Thi, mama and I went to Kim Son), and fun ride to Corita's house to drop her off. Yay. Now I am sleepy, but I have VESPERS! HEAR ME EXCITED! REGGIE BOUGHT ME A REAL COPY OF VESPERS! AAAAH!
