Ah! Grandjo and David came today and when I got home the living room was totally done! It's gorgeous! And the kitchen is getting cleaner and losing piles of dirty glass vases!
And another happy thing, just kind of makes me warm and fussy inside (more literally than I usually mean that)... I was mentioning how surprised some people were to hear me practicing pop after school with Tony and Lumumba, andmy mom said I don't really show my other side at school.. .Grandjo asked what she meant, and she said, "She's a cat. She likes Led Zeppelin and Ain't Misbehavin'. A lot of people don't know these things." Heehee, she's acknowedged it kindly. Maybe not literally, but close enough for all kinds of comfort.
I caved to pressure from all sides and decided my life will be made miserable by continuous badgering if I don't go to prom. Gleh. So I asked a few boys if they wanted to go. They're going to have to buy their own tickets. I figure it might be less of a nail-scraping-chalkboard experience if I bring enjoyable company, so I invited Tony, Wes, and Ellis (though I think Ellis may have taken it a little too seriously). I think it'd be cool if Reggie and Lumumba came, too... Maybe I'll talk to them about it.
I've been stuffed into various dresses over the past few days, and the decision is closer to being made... I really don't want to think about it, or my hair, or makeup for my senior recital, but apparently it's necessary. So we have a choice of brilliant-emerald-green beaded tighter-than-skin shortlsleeve, elegant backless graduated-blue sparsely-beaded string-halter, and heavily-beaded white-and-gold-top black-beaded-skirt-and-waist tankish-I-dunno-whatchacallit, with a few other vague possibilities. That last one must weigh 15 pounds... Lots of beads.
Anyway, Tony and mama independently decided that today as we bring him home afterschool so he has a ride to HSC, he is gonna see all of them and help decide. I am so not looking forward to it. Heels, ewwww.
