It'd been literally years since I'd last watched Babe. I love that movie. It's amazing what four years of musical education and experience will do to your perception of a movie... the song the girls are singing when the TV goes off is Faure's Cantique de Jean Racine, the theme that plays at the first sheepdog trial is used in Brahms's Academic Festival Overture, the basis for the folksong/adaptation that they set the "If I had Words" lyrics to was also set by Saint-Saens... Fun to recognize all that, now.

And I like that theme, too. The words go so well. I think I might try to arrange it. But I still have to finish my opera. Oh, yeah. Need to do that.
