Rice rehearsal was not disastrous, once the sopranos left to have a sectional. I've never seen Tom that mad and contemptuous... he's pretty devout, and he said some damns that sounded rather sincere. They really were incompetent, though. They needed to go fix it. Their call on Monday is 4; it's 4:30 for the rest of us.

The piccolo trumpets also needed work (I'm sure other people in the orchestra did too, but I was sitting right behind them). The Second had tuning issues, but goodness, the First couldn't figure out how long to hold his trills, and kept breaking on the highs, and fumbling runs (I was about to call them melismas, but they don't have words)... We'll see how things are on Monday. It was cold outside, too.

English first semester has only two more essays to go after I finish this one, but they haven't posted the second semester again yet and I just got an email saying I need to have everything turned in and 70% of it graded by a teacher by TODAY so I can take finals... WHat? I thought I had till December 6th. And I called them today to tell them I can't do it then cause of SAT IIs, and the other alternative is the 13th, which Madrigal people know is out of the question... I'll demonstrate. December looks like this:

5th, Friday: Vocal Winter Concert, stay at school till 7:00 done by 9:30 probably
7th, Sunday: Dillards grand opening gala, sing 6:30-9:30 pm
9th, Tuesday: 12:30-2 at U of H, workshop with the KING'S SINGERS! aaah
10th, Wednesday: HSC Pops orchestra rehearsal 7:15pm
11th, Thursday: 11:15 am St. Steven's Methodist
7:15 call for Pops
12th, Friday: 11am dress rehearsal for the Chorale collab with the Houston Symphony
6:15 Pops call
13th, Saturday: 9am-12:30 are two concerts with the Symphony and PVA.
2:00 is a spina bifida benefit we sing for.
Now, here I have to make a choice. 7:30 is a madrigal gig at 1st UNited Methodist Church. But 7:15 is the call for the HSC Pops concert.
14th, Sunday: A nice little coincidental miss, here. 1:45 is the call for the matinee pops, and it should be over by 3.
4-6 is the annual Bethany Methodist plum-pudding flaming fiery cake-of-doom gig that we have to memorize Wassail for.
6:45 is the call for the Sunday evening Pops. If I'm careful, I can make all the gigs that day.
15th, Monday is another conflict. 6:45 is the Pops call, but 7:30ish is a Westbury Baptist madrigal gig. Hmmm.
17th, 18th and 19th, Wed-Fri: are the annual Petroleum Club morning gigs. 11:40 each day, and they pay us very well. A break for awhile, then...
21st, Sunday: Black Lab, 7-9. Hallelujah Chorus, we're done for the year and it's time to wash the costumes. The 21st is also the day that Tony gets his driver's license. Which sucks, because we could have used him as a ride for all these gigs, and he's in Seabrook, which is very inconvenient for anybody to get him from. Maybe he'll just have to sleep at the school.

Thus, also, the 13th will not work for the English final. If this doesn't work out, I may just badger the counselor into finding me an AP credit-by-exam.
