Man, yay Christmas. We're even playing a few cards (when David's not on the phone). Liverpool Rummy is the game I've been conditioned to play while eating pie after pie, staying up till 5, and laughing hysterically. So, it's good.
The power was out twice today, the second time for over four hours, so it was a calm and contemplative Christmas. I got a water mattress! My bed is back! I'd been sleeping on the plywood frame since the air mattress deflated. I'm glad to have the water back. I'm also glad about the three shirts mama gave me, and the really cool rectangle box bench, and some opals (!) and tiny boxes, and truffles, and TIM MINCHIN DVDS YAAAYYYY, and a calendar full of animals with their moms, and a candle holder that is absurdly shiny, and an amazing multiknife, and calligraphy pens, and a purple faux suede basket chair (!), just a lot of awesome stuff. And most of it doesn't take up much space, which is great, because I'm running out of space.
And mama seemed to like the stuff I got her, and David liked the glut of pulp-scifi, Mark Twain, and Shakespeare I got him.
Success. Even without electricity. We watched Rock of Ages last night between church services (we had about 2 hours, so I missed the last 10 minutes or so), and Don't Stop Believing was on in the car when I left for the second service, so I was hilarious pumped for it. David loved Rock of Ages, as it's a brilliantly executed musical satire of the 80s. YES I knew it was awesome, even though it's terrible, but it's not even terrible, it's just a parody of itself. I love it.
We started playing cards, but David got a call, so I'm accumulating more DWTS vids for him to put on his flashdrive, and mama's watching Antiques Roadshow, and we ate the ham that we cooked after the power came back on, and there's eggnog, and maybe we'll watch another movie tonight (MINCHINNNN... or one of the chick flicks mama gave David {he loves chick flicks}, or one of the movies mama got recently).
But I do want to play some more cards. I can't remember what hand we're on. A group and a run? It's an early one, still.
