Thursday night I actually put on all the gear and got really-chiv-trained for the first time. Orin showed me how to block several things, with both shield and sword, and how to get out of a few different engagements, though I was absurdly tired just from holding up the giant shield (it's relatively light so it wouldn't be so bad, but it wasn't hung for me, so it was a huge effort).

So I was sore Friday for Dan's birthday (made him cookies) and the Chamber dress rehearsal. Still somewhat sore for a session of boxpocalypse-observation (we would have moved some, but the logistics were quite particular) and Lego-LOTR play session at Laura's in Katy in the afternoon. And then, last night, Messiah show; it went well, I guess. Dan and mama liked it, and we hung at Chuy's after, and I was too tired to go to Evan's Hanukkah thing, though I did want to go see those boys.

Today was basically a solid block of singing with two hours of break at the front end. Church rehearsal, church, go home for a cookie and some music, Paul rehearsal, church rehearsal, lessons-and-carols show. I may be shot for the day. And Laura asked me for the use of the van to get the last shelf out of their storage unit, so I schlepped out to Katy to do that, and showed her the Minchin Damned for All Time and lamented over the fact that they'd autotune him. Then she and her husband and kid took me to Outback, which was fun, and we discussed the various virtuosic comedic musicians we know of (with some forays into RPGs and the history of the internet).

Dan has acquired a new hobby; he uses a circular scorer to cut the necks off wine bottles to make cups out of them. I really, really like them. They're very cool, and really satisfactory cups, nice and heavy, just the right size for a good drink. Various pleasant colors, the nice bottle-green, the slightly brownish green, a faded cobalt blue... Maybe I'll etch some.
