It was the Rice centennial. Dan went to all the fancy stuff, I just went to the light show in the quad (it was pretty good, they had a wireframe scan of the Sallyport, Herzstein and Sewall when they made it, so it really made good use of the architecture).
But tomorrow Dan's leaving for Vancouver. For a conference. Psh. I'm gonna stay at Rice and do (some of) his work. And probably listen to a lot of Tim Minchin, because I recently rediscovered him and it was about time I launched another intense musical obsession. Maybe some of his pianistic eloquence will rub off on me. Heh. I do occasionally write funny songs. But not usually on the piano.
