It's been a long Thanksgiving weekend.

We made some good turkey, some fantastic cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, waldorf salad, and stuffing, as well as three pies out of one can of pumpkin. It included two cans of condensed milk, the only examples of which I could find in the pantry were chocolate condensed milk that had both expired in January 2000. I used them anyway. The pies did not suffer.

In the evening after the main dinner event was done, it was movie time. We watched the Globe DVD of As You Like It, which was just as charming as I remembered, and then we took it upon ourselves to educate David in the Marvel franchise. We watched Iron Man 2 (he'd seen 1), Thor, and Captain America, before giving up and allowing the oncoming sleep train to knock us out. Friday night, we watched The Avengers and Iron Man 3, and our pilgrimage was finished. For now.

Yesterday, to my thrilled surprise, Reggie pooled his energy resources and got up early enough to take us to the Renaissance Festival. It was delightful. We ran across Tartanic three or four times, Reggie got a purple fox tail he adores, I got a significant amount of Christmas and birthday shopping done, as well as a beeswax candle and a Tartanic album for myself, and we stayed for the fireworks, which I had never seen before. They're really a good show, and to my surprise, the preshow was an Adam Crack spiel, which was excellent as Reggie had never seen him and we hadn't managed to catch him during the day, and his firewhip tricks are more visible at night anyway.

What a lovely day, despite the crushing traffic both there and back. It's all right. We had all kinds of fascinating music from our former lives to listen to in the car. I may have to show some of those Uncertain Outcome recordings to the CI kids. They're better than I remember.
