For some reason, even though that was nowhere near the most exhausting dress rehearsal I’ve had in my life, I’m pretty beat. Mozart C minor mass, some good bits and some bits that are way too squiggly, especially when the conductor randomly decides to take them twice as fast as we’ve ever rehearsed them before. Even the orchestra was struggling, and they’re mostly Houston Symphony players and subs.
It was a little frustrating, but mostly tiring. And I sort of wish that my Knight Marshal had come. He said yesterday at fighter practice that he wanted to distract himself from not being able to go to a Dave Matthews show, so I mentioned this rehearsal to him, and even asked the director if it was okay if he came. I don’t blame him or anything, apparently he went to the hospital to visit a friend, but it would have been nice to have a disinterested party there to gripe to. Heh. Always more fun.
Maybe part of the disproportionate exhaustion is from today’s continuous hamster wheel at dayjob. We kept working really hard and things kept not happening. Although, apparently there's a tradition that we all go out to lunch together on Fridays, so we walked to some Italian place in the Village and that was all right. On the way back, Minion #1 asked me what year I was. I told him I was 2008. I think he's a sophomore or something. He was utterly shocked, and asked how old I was. Apparently I don't look 26. I said it's probably the zits. He asked me when and with what I graduated, so I told him the story of my education, and apparently he wanted to be a singer when he was in high school, so he grilled me on whether I regret any of my decisions, and I super don't. I was a little glad to get back to the office and the hamster wheel, because man that was a lot of questions, but I agreed to let him ask more later if he wanted. Although also it turns out Minion #2 is lead singer and rhythm guitar in a band, and he gave me the contact info for his lead guitarist, because lookitthat, Reggie and I could use some guitarage. So I took the number and retreated to the office of the slightly higher-grade minions, Denver and me. And then I went back to fighting with the pdf generation and upload. Which is still not working properly.
Well, Dan gets back tonight, he can fix it. Though he leaves on Monday. Well.
