Did work! hung out with Dan, accidentally wrote an amusing song while accompanying him on his errands. Will share when I've learned to play it.

Up late making cookies for wedding (probably some will get eaten on the drive). David arrived today, and he was gonna come but there's no one else to watch the dogs since Dan is leaving Saturday, and Lisa doesn't let dogs in the house, and they're old and frail and Hunter is like David's kid, so he's staying to take care of them.

Also up late watching Sherlock again (ostensibly to show David, but I really wanted to watch it again). {Aside: Benedict Cumberbatch, while saddled with a tragically unfortunate name, is deeply visually and aurally striking. Implausibly faultless and angular alabaster complexion, equally implausibly pale irises, unruly shock of contrastively dark hair, incongruously deep and resonant timbre... All visuals augmented, of course, by the style of the director of photography, but man, wow).

Of course I'm glad to be going to Charlotte's wedding, but I really don't want to leave Houston. Even though no one would be here were I to stay. Just, since I know they're coming back, I want a presence here. But it will be ages, and I can't get into looking forward to what I'm doing instead, which, admittedly, will be exciting soon. There's a Crash Kings concert triple-bill, a week or two to chill and work hard on piano/multitasking/writing, a few days of wandering the Isle of Albion before an absolutely paradisical week-long a cappella workshop at a milennially agèd cathedral, a few more days to hang with Brit-citizen friends of the family, and half a week of preparatory downtime in Boston before a new and unprecedentedly productive semester of school.

It will be fun. I just can't feel it yet. Too busy missing what is going to be here while I'm not.

Mama fainted in the driveway this morning talking to Marissa, so departure's been delayed while she ate some food and took a nap (like a sensible person, she stayed up till 6 the night before a 12-hour drive).

But now we're going.
