Catherine's gone to Tufts to visit another Boston friend, but I'll tell you, man, we walked. Not really that much more than I've done in the past, but I hadn't done it since I've lived here, really. We walked to Harvard Square and around it yesterday, seeing unexpected sights like a hilarious newage bookstore with nice rocks. And we came back to see the Far Cry concert Dominique was in, which was immensely good. We snuck in, since we didn't have tickets, and lay on the floor in the closed balcony. Unexpectedly comfortable and serene. They did a Honegger symphony to open with, and it was amazing. I didn't know he wrote symphonies.

This morning we recovered from introducing her to the Big Bang Theory, and went with Brent and his sister Brittany (whom I also rescued from the airport Thursday night after a certain amount of fiasco finding each other) to get Brent's recital shirt from the tailor and to have lunch. We walked down Newbury street, which was heinously busy because the weather was absolutely and totally ideal. 70ยบ and a light breeze. We even had a lovely time sitting around outside with Brent's cello, waiting for him to buy socks. And then he came out and a little kid was walking by and he showed the kid the cello and played some things for him and his parents and they randomly gave him two bucks.

Catherine and I, after returning home, wanted to see about some of the actual tours of the city, but it was kind of late by the time we got out the door, so we went to the Christian Science mother church instead and saw it and the Mapparium (which she had read about once in a story). I do love me some spherical acoustics.

We have been spending an inordinate amount of time going back and forth to the corner store over these few days. One can't remember what one needed all at once, and then there are other reasons to be over there; snack, batteries, tampons, other snack, onion, one more onion, gum... and the main manager's son, who is often behind the counter in the afternoon being shone on by the slanty sunlight till his eyes are so turquoise you can hardly look at them.

Tomorrow morning we're going to see if we can make it to both the Mt Auburn cemetery and one of the tours (either Trolley or Duck) before she has to get on a plane and I have to get to a rehearsal.
